Family and Friends-
Well we decided to post our annual Christmas letter on here and save a few trees, right!! Wow, 2008 had a few surprises in it that we didn't even see coming.
We began our year with a quiet New Year's celebration with the kids at our neighbor's home.
The rest of the year has proven to be a bit more eventful. We experienced quite a few difficult transitions, and a loss this year we are overcoming them because of our faith and strong family bond.
Starting with our job change in July and then our cross country drive in August. We drove through eight states and really took our time exploring America's heartland--Iowa was so beautiful. That brings our total states visited to somewhere in the forties!!
Living just outside of Washington, D.C. has also been amazing we have spent as much time as possible exploring the city and taking in all the history and culture.
Well, we decided early in 2008 that we needed to move away from Salt Lake City and get closer to the east coast. Ernie attended a Service Academy Career Conference in June and was offered a management position with Exel Logistics. Exel is a third party warehousing/logistics company that has contracts with lots of major companies in the U.S. He is deep in the middle of management training with them and is helping to open a warehouse in PA for The Home Depot. All and all Ernie is very happy about his career change and hasn't looked back once.
Jodi started the year continuing her position as a features writer for The South Valley Journals in SLC. She has spent the year preparing for the move and easing all the transitions for Ernie and the kids. Jodi was sad to leave behind dear friends in SLC, but happy to be back closer to home and old dear friends. She is enjoying a new career at REI and can be found there once or twice a week. It's a nice little escape from her mommy world and has some really cool discounts that go along with it.
Josie turned seven this year and enjoyed a swimming birthday with a few of her classmates. Josie spent the entire summer in the pool and loves swimming underwater. She enjoyed another season of soccer and really excelled on her team in Virginia. For the first time she played soccer on a regular sized soccer field with real positions. Her favorites were forward and goalie.
Will turned four this year at Disneyland and even became an official Jedi Knight--while we were there he battled Darth Vader on center stage in Tomorrow Land. Will's love for LEGOS has grown in leaps and bounds and he is now an official LEGO Brickmaster. He can be found making a new LEGO creation most days. He played his first season of soccer and loved it. He is enjoying his final year of preschool at St. Mary's of Sorrows and is very ready to go to Kindergarten next year.
Cleo our crazy cat is doing well and even enjoyed the car trip from UT to VA. We lost Our dear Callie in August and she is missed everyday, but we know she is in a better place chasing squirrels.
As 2008 draws to an end we are thankful for our family and friends and are praying for happiness and strength in 2009.
Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
All our Best,
