Kumbaya in the Poconos

Rain, wind and snow flurries were forcasted, but that didn't stop troop 6229 of the Girl Scouts of Eastern PA from heading to Camp Mosey Wood.  The Campsite is a beautiful Girl Scout (GS) retreat nestled in the Pocono Mountains of Eastern PA.  Tucked away along Lake Mosey Wood are several platform tent camp sites and wooden cabins.  Our cabin was called Blueberry Hill since in the summertime it's surrounded by wild blueberries.  Can anyone say bear bait? Just kidding.

After dropping off our pack, sleep mats and sleeping bags we headed to the dining hall for a GS welcome.  Everyone was paired off with a buddy to spend the weekend with.  Josie and Hanna were paired together and really enjoyed each others company.
While having lunch we were schooled in the GS dining hall system head table, footer, hopper and scraper.  Yes, I got to be the scraper...yuck! 
The first activity of the day was tye-dye.  Josie and I tye-dyed a sundress and a pair of cotton shorts for the pool.  Afterwards, we took a hike around the lake.  The remainder of the afternoon was spent learning about the different decades by doing activities like line dancing, the macarena, building a space station with blocks relay-style and making paper dolls from the 1800s. 

Before dinner we got to do arts and crafts...Josie's highlight of the day for sure.  She made about eight Gods' eyes (popsicle and yarn craft) and tissue paper flowers for their upcoming bridging and also, letters for Mother's day. 
Dinner was equally exciting and we enjoyed BBQ chicken, salad bar and rice.  For dessert, brownies, of course. 

Campfire songs, smores and a flashlight walk back to our cabin topped off the night. 

Camp Mosey Wood was a wonderful place to spend our first GS camp-out as mother and daughter and we will always remember the fun times we shared there. Josie heads back later this summer for a full week of Mosey Wood adventures.
