Adventures in our family tend to slow down during the winter months. The Carcamo's hibernate so to speak, and stay close to home. Maybe it's because I hate to drive in the snow and ice, and hold onto the "oh crap" bar in the car til my fingers turn red. So unless we're following the birds and "flying" South we tend to stick close to the area. November through February are the real winter months here in PA, and everywhere else in the Mid-Atlantic. But the cold weather starts to get to you about this time of year.
Every year I tell Ernie we need to go somewhere warm in February or I'm gonna go crazy you know take a break from the bitter cold temperatures and all the snow. Lots of people jet off to some exotic location like an island in the middle of the Caribbean if their lucky. Well I got to the next best thing this winter thanks to one of my favorite peeps in the world Amanda Farnell Sumrall.
I headed to where the heart is...home. For two weekends, one in January, and one in February I went down relaxed, and caught up with some old friends, and even made a few new ones. In January I went to Hard Rock Hotel in Biloxi, MS for a fun-filled weekend of innocent bachelorette fun Farenellski-style. Then in February I stayed a bit closer to home and celebrated Amanda and Matt's wedding in Mobile, AL. Both weekends were amazing and seeing old friends from my hometown and college was wonderful, and just what I needed in the middle of the winter.

Well if you aren't lucky enough to follow the birds and fly south here's the next best thing. Our kids enjoy being in the water they're little fish and its so nice to swim in the colder months. We brought the warm, tropical weather to our kids in the form of an indoor water park in the Poconos called Split Rock H2O Park and Resort. Much like the Great Wolf Lodge except you don't have to spend the night. Everyone enjoyed the fast, curvy water slides, boogie boarding on the wave machine and the wave pool.

baby it's cold out there, but it's warm in here...

As I write this spring is just around the corner, and we're already planning a few trips so check back and see what adventures the Carcamo's collect this year.
Of course a winter post isn't complete without at least one snow picture....here's the only snowman we made this year and we were so lazy we made him lying down.

Love you guys. Thank you so much for traveling both months to be with me and help celebrate this special time in my life. It would not have been the same or complete without you.
