Musings from the Home Front

Summer is officially over this weekend... I put Josie on the bus to middle school last week and shuffled Will down the sidewalk {solo} on his bicycle to his neighborhood elementary school.  The realization that I am, yet again, a SAHM to two school-aged children is starting to set-in.  Don't misunderstand me I am thankful to have had the opportunity to stay at home with my lovelies, but it can get a tad bit boring between the hours of 9 a.m.& 3 p.m.  I enjoy the occasional brush on my leg from Miss Cleo and the constant attention from the old man, but I want both, to send J & W to school, go to work at my dream job (preferably in a time machine to distant parts of the world to write about travel) and then return in enough time to meet my children at the door with hot, fresh cookies and a warm hug.

So I've been searching for this dream job for about three weeks now and I'm not turning out too many opportunities.  I've applied for a lot of jobs, and by a lot, I mean about 20.  Ernie says I need to apply for about 100 so at this rate maybe I'll have a job by December.  I am currently waiting to hear back from Ohio Wesleyan U, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, The American Heart Association, the Olentangy School District, Home Goods and well lots of others I cannot even remember.

Enough ranting I would like to rave a bit about our new home and neighborhood.  The summer of 2012 has been one of the best summer's we've ever had.  The kids are surrounded by sweet, well-behaved neighborhood kids to hang with, our house is so cute and we are enjoying our home improvement projects, wine/beer with our cool neighbors a few times a week has been fabulous and finally the nice feeling of knowing we are truly settling into Ohio, and we love it.

Next up is my favorite season, Autumn/Fall, and all the wonderful things that come along with this time of year; apples, apple cider, beautiful foliage, football games, backyard camp outs, pumpkin bread, pumpkin spiced lattes and of course my birthday.  Our next adventure is to the Canadian-side of Niagara Falls and a beautiful drive through NY state to get there.  Can't wait to see the majestic falls up-close and the kids can't wait to use their passports for the first time.  More about that at the end of October.
