I can't believe it's almost February....figured I should update the blog. Not much to report this month....just the everyday stuff. School, basketball, activities.....
Kids are deep in basketball season and really enjoying their second year as bballers. Nana gave the kids a basketball hoop for Christmas so they were pretty excited to use it today since it was a balmy 63 degrees in January. The kids picked right back up and were running the backyard with all the neighborhood kids....can't wait for Spring.
The second grading period just ended and the kids both did really well. Josie went to her first middle school dance (dropped-off and picked-up by Ernie) not sure if he was on a recon mission or what....she said she and her friends danced and hung out....I envisioned them all in a row sitting on the bleachers playing mine craft on their phones or face timing.....
William completed his cultural project last week on Nicaragua. He did a great job and learned a lot about his family's culture. His presentation was excellent and everyone loved the Tres Leches cake homemade by Will. Mimi and Papi came in to town after Christmas so he was able to interview Papi about his life and growing up in Nicaragua. Will also competed in his third Pinewood Derby race....his car did pretty well and we won three raffle prizes including the 50/50 raffle.
We also got a visit from Uncle Sergio, Aunt Patty and Sofia....it was nice having family in for a few days. We
stayed in mostly, but were able to introduce them to Jeni's Ice Cream (an Ohio favorite). Theo enjoyed having Sofia around especially at mealtime.
We've been enjoying our local community center for fun activities during this rather cold, snowy winter.....our latest adventure was the rock wall....the kids are pros and the adults are getting there. Weight training and running is going well for me and Ernie is doing what he can when he has time. I'm joining a running group this week for the social side of things. I ran the indoor track this morning and was able to keep up with a marathoner gal....of course she was still running when I left!
Ernie is on the road quite a bit in February. He's going to Edmonton and Ft. McMurray in the providence of Alberta Canada for 16 days. Maybe he'll take a ride on the ice road or stumble on a diamond or two while he's freezin' his butt off.....
chow!
