Most of you know that we are dog lovers and that we lost our sweet girl Callie last August 13...rescuing another pup has been high on our list for a while, but we were thinking we would wait until we got a bit more settled like house, backyard ect.
After one innocent visit to a local animal shelter on Saturday, June 13th and you've got the beginnings of Ted's excellent adventure.
Cute face, submissive behavior, gentle eyes, floppy ears, thick coat...check, check, check, check! Ernie and I both knew from the moment we saw him that he was going home with us, especially Ernie. Keep in mind we really just went to Peaceable Kingdom to love on some dogs and cats...not to adopt one. Yeah right! Our adventure had begun as a trip to Home Depot to get a new grill and by the end of our crazy and excellent weekend we had both a grill and one hot dog!
His adventure began with a walk in our favorite park Lockridge and a quick swim in the trout stocked stream...ahh refreshing. Then a Darryl Worley concert at our boroughs local "concert in the park" spot. Bingo, lots of rubs from passerbyers, good country music and of course food. And ended with a day of soccer and some butt stiffing with various other dogs and a Nathan's hot dog fresh off our new grill. What a dog's life?!?!

If you noticed above there are a few dates...besides the fact that this blog is a scrapbook or journal for our family so I like to include dates...we thought it was pretty significant that we always seem to have "these moments" whether wonderful or heartbreaking on the same day on the calender "13." Luck or no luck we'll take it, and yes, Theodore has found his fur-ever home.
One side note: Cleo loves him and is very happy to have a fresh bowl of dog food back in the house for late night snacking. Oh and I've already had to tell the cat to quit beating up the dog.
