The fireworks were magnificent this year as we celebrated our nation's 233rd birthday, with family, near where it all began. We've had quite the history lesson since moving to the right coast.

We've been to Philly and seen the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. We've driven through countless Revolutionary and Civil War battlegrounds and to top things off spent the fourth in the most festive of ways, relaxing on the U.S. Capitol's South lawn. We still have a lot to see--Valley Forge, Gettysburg, the Freedom Trail, Monticello and the lists goes on and on. As we collect our National Parks and Monuments passport stamps we see our history through our children's eyes and remember how blessed we are to be Americans.

I like to reflect back on a favorite moment and I think this time it was standing on the South lawn of the U.S. Capitol with hands over our hearts listening to the Star Spangled Banner and watching countless Americans wave the U.S. flag. It was an experience we will never forget and the beginning of a new family tradition. Enjoy the pictures.
