As 2009 comes to an end we are reminded daily of all the reasons we are thankful. Our family has enjoyed many memorable moments this year and also faced challenges that have made us stronger. Throughout the year we've enjoyed hearing from all of you and sharing your daily life experiences, rather they be truimphs, or sorrows.
Pennsylvania has been our home for almost a year now, and during our time here we have enjoyed exploring the beauty of this state, rich in U.S. history. Some of our favorite places: the Poconos, the Delaware River Valley, Scranton's Steam Town, Philadelphia's Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, Valley Forge, Bethlehem and numerous local villages. We also visited, NYC, DC, Ocean City, MD and Charlotte, NC.
Ernie and I celebrated a decade of marriage this year. We went to a bed and breakfast in the Poconos, and enjoyed farm to table meals, scenic drives and hikes among the numerous waterfalls. In the last 10 years we have explored the United States and lived in five of its beautiful states. We cherish all of those moments and are very thankful for all the experiences we've shared and for the friends we've made along the way.
Some achievements we'd like to share:
Ernie has had an interesting year to say the least. He's enjoying his position with Exel Logistics and the challenges he meets on a daily basis. He is an operational manager and is in charge of the outbound operations of a 500,000 square foot warehouse. The warehouse is run by Exel for The Home Depot. No day is like the next. He works long hours and cherishes his weekends and time off with the kids and Jodi.
Jodi enjoys the challenges of keeping the family moving along smoothly. She is enjoying volunteering in Will's classroom and is the classroom parent for Josie's class. Exploring the local and surrounding area has become a favorite past time for her. She can always be found with her camera in hand, and enjoys photo journalism and blogging.
William started Kindergarten this year and goes half days in the morning. He loves his teacher and both math and language arts. He is reading and learning new things every day. Will played soccer this year, his second season, and wow he is a talented player. He scored numerous break away goals at every game and is known as Willie on the soccer field. In the pool he's a little fish...learning to swim 25 yards of freestlye and swimming in swim meets all summer. LEGOS are still his favorite hobby and he is quite inventive in his designs. He has been building his very own LEGO City on his train table all year and continues to take away and add new designs daily. He also learned a few new things this year...snow skiing and boogie boarding.
Lastly, we adopted a new furry kid this year. Theodore Roosevelt (Theo) joined our family on June 13th. We rescued him from a local shelter. He's a 4 or 5 year old black lab with a distinguishing gray beard. Cleo, our cat, turned two this year and is happy to have another dog in her life.
As I wrap up this letter each year I am so thankful for all we are blessed with and for all of you, whom we hold dear to our hearts. Our military friends continue to share their lives with us, and are always in our thoughts and prayers as they sacrifice daily for our freedom.
May this letter find each and every one of you happy, safe and healthy. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Love,
The Carcamo's
Ernie, Jodi, Josie, Will, Theo and Cleo
