Josie and Will had a great first week of school. They were both up, and downstairs eating breakfast all by themselves each day. Clothes on, teeth brushed and beds made, thanks to my little checklist hanging on their bathroom mirror and by the front door. Each morning we're out the door at 8:05 for a nice leisurely walk to Will's bus stop...we walk through our favorite park and Theo comes along. After we get Will on the bus we continue our morning walk to Josie's school. It's so nice to live in a small community where we can walk our kids to school feel good about the exercise they're getting, and enjoy the time spent with them.
Will's classroom is working on their Alphabet using a cute book and song called Chicka Chicka Boom boom. Last week he came home and told me all the letters escaped and they had to search all over the school to find them. He is really enjoying his teacher, Mrs. Schueck and has a little friend on the bus. This week (second week) they are learning "all about me" and working on learning how to write their letters. For homework Will completed a time capsule poem. We'll have fun reflecting back to it at the end of the year to see how much more he weighs, how much taller he is and also how much better his handwriting will have improved.
Josie is enjoying third grade and was so excited to learn they would be using recorders this year in music class. She is also excited for the upcoming art lessons and she liked her new teachers. She has started working on vocabulary and spelling and her words are challenging. Third grade is a big year and an important time for them to broaden their skills with sentence structure, multiplication, division and writing imaginative stories.
We are spending a few afternoons a week doing soccer, piano and brownies. Josie practices soccer once a week and has brownies and piano once a week as well. Will is playing soccer and practices once a week. They both love soccer and are excelling at it more and more each year. Josie is almost at the end of her first piano book and she will have her first piano recital later this fall. She is in her third and final year of brownies and will bridge over to Girl Scout Juniors next year.
The kids are doing well and we have settled into Pennsylvania and are happy to call it our home.
