The First Adventure of Summer 2010

The kids have been free from school for a few days and we've already climbed an iceberg, raced back and free and swung dangerously over a stream from a rope swing...summer is here.

The kids both had straight A report cards so we took them to Dutch Springs as a "we're proud of you" award.  The 50-acre lake was awesome and a great place to cool down on a hot, sunny PA day.  We hung out in the aqua park and played on all the water toys.  The kids especially enjoyed the blob, the magic carpet, the small iceberg and Hershey's milkshakes from the snack bar.   It was a nice relaxing day by a beautiful lake.

The kids also swam in their first swim meet this week against Kaybrook.  They both swam free and new this season Josie swam a 50 free and Will swam 25 back.  They both tried their hardest and swam really fast.  The kids are really enjoying swimming on a summer swim team.

Lastly, we spent Saturday hiking, rope swinging, swimming and grilling....we went to Millcreek Farms and hiked a scenic trail along a beautiful stream.  Theo came along and really liked standing in the fast moving water to cool down.  We got a little adventurous at the end of our hike and each took a turn on the rope swing.  It was scary, but fun.  After a dip in our community pool we grilled out chicken, potatoes and veggies.  For dessert the kids roasted marshmallows and made smores while Ernie and I relaxed on the deck.  Summer 2010 is getting off to a great start.
