Flying Up and Bridging Over

Josie was pushed out of troop 6229 and their nest to fly up and bridge across to Juniors this week.  She has been a member of troop 6229 for her third and final year of girl scouts and loved every minute of it.

She started Girl Scout Brownies (GSB) in a troop at our church in Salt Lake City and really enjoyed the meetings, outings and selling cookies.  She continued with her love for scouting when we moved to Virginia and was a member of troop 213 there.  They were a very active group who earned lots of try-its and went on hikes and a trip to the National Zoo in D.C. 

For the second half of her second year in GSB I was unable to find her a troop so I was very happy when we became a part of troop 6229 of Eastern PA for her third year. 

As a member of troop 6229 Josie enjoyed earning lots of fun try-its, camping out at Camp Mosey Wood, camping-in at the Davinci Science Center, a trip to a working PA Dutch farm and lots of fun parties and gatherings.  She will finish her time off as a Brownie at a Webkinz pizza dance party...thought up by the girls in her troop.  Later this summer she will attend her very first GS event as a Junior.  She will be at Camp Mosey Wood for one week learning how to be a masterpiece maker.  She will enjoy sewing, sculpting, painting, photography, arts and crafts and many other camp related activities in the middle of the Pocono mountains. 

We are so proud of our little GS and know she will enjoy being a GS Junior.

Brownie Poem

When I was a little girl
I wore a vest of brown
I learned all the B's of Brownies
And friendship all around.

Now the vest I wear will be Girl Scout green.
Old friends join hands with new,
As a Junior I'll be seen.
