Apples, Pumpkins and Other Fall Stuff

One of our favorite times of the year has arrived and we've had the chance to travel a bit and explore the season of Fall.  Ernie is busy getting acquainted with his new unit the 103 AOG of the Connecticut Air National Guard.  He went up to the unit the first weekend in October to get his flight physical and the kids and I tagged along.  While Ernie was poked and prodded the kids and I checked out a working tobacco farm and apple orchard all in one.  We picked a variety of apples: Cortland, Gala, Empire, Liberty, Golds and a very sour green variety.  Afterwards we stopped off at one of the many red barns and saw the tobacco leaves drying.  Our next stop was the New England Air Museum located right next to Ernie's unit.  The kids and I explored the vast airplane display, learned about parachutes and gliders, sat in a P-47 Mustang, and saw a real B-29.  When Ernie was finished with his duty for the day we hit the back roads of CT and finished off a perfect day in Kent.  We visited Kent Falls National Park and then had dinner in town at Doc's.  It was a memorable beautiful weekend spent exploring Connecticut.

Next stop in our fall adventures was Philly with the Carcamo's from Miami at a pumpkin patch.  We met Tio Mario, Tia Lola, Andrea, Chris, Adriana, Mario Ivan, Maria and Eduardo at Linvilla Orchards in Media, PA.  The place was packed and the kids enjoyed the playground, mini maze and picking out the perfect pumpkin to take home.  We also got to see and learn about different varieties of pumpkins...my favorite was the Fairytale pumpkin it looked just like Cinderella's carriage.  We finished our evening off at a quaint Italian restaurant called Casa Prego and enjoyed a meal together before heading home.  We are so blessed to have such a wonderful extended family.  Good luck to Andrea who is starting her internship in Philly today on her journey to becoming a Doctor.

Here's a few pictures from our travels....
