Callie our 8 year-old Lab mix was diagnosed with IBS last year after enduring about 6 months of stomach pains and gurgles, loss of appetite and weight. She lost 20 lbs in about 8 months. She is much better now and is on expensive special dog food, predisone and Imuran daily. A combination of the right proteins in her diet and the medicine has put her disease into remission. Stress and bad eating habits sometimes brings on bouts of diarrhea and stomach pains.
When she has flare ups she is always comforted by our sweet cat Cleo. Cleo is very aware of when Callie is having a bad day and not feeling well. She will climb up on Callie and massage her stomach to help her with the pain. It is the cutest thing ever. The furry girls are so good for each other.
